Anxiety & Stress

Stress is a physiological response to an immediate external threat or pressure. Anxiety is a sustained mental health condition characterised by persistent, excessive worries that remain even after a stressor has passed. Together, they represent the body’s natural "fight-or-flight" system, though anxiety often involves an internal sense of apprehension about future events rather than a direct present danger.

ABUSE & TRAUMA

Abuse refers to any intentional action—whether physical, emotional, or sexual—used to exert power and control over another person. Trauma is the lasting emotional and physiological response that results from living through such distressing events, often overwhelming an individual's ability to cope.

self-esteem

Self-esteem is the internal evaluation of one's own worth, encompassing the beliefs and emotional assessments we hold about our value as a person. It acts as a mental blueprint that influences how we navigate challenges, build relationships, and perceive our place in the world.

RELATIONSHIP ISSUES

Relationship issues refer to the persistent patterns of conflict, communication breakdowns, or emotional distance that disrupt the connection and stability between individuals. These challenges often stem from misaligned expectations, trust concerns, or external pressures that hinder the ability to maintain a healthy, supportive partnership.

DEPRESSION

Depression is a complex mental health condition characterised by a persistent feeling of sadness, hopelessness, and a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It often manifests through physical symptoms like fatigue or sleep disturbances and can significantly impair a person’s ability to function in daily life.

LOSS & GRIEF

Loss is the experience of being deprived of someone or something significant, while grief is the multifaceted and deeply personal emotional response to that deprivation. It is a natural process that encompasses a wide range of feelings, from profound sadness to anger, as an individual adjusts to a new reality.

family issues

Family issues refer to the complex dynamics, conflicts, or communication breakdowns that occur within a domestic unit, often impacting the emotional well-being of all members. These challenges can range from structural transitions and boundary disputes to deep-seated behavioural patterns that disrupt the harmony and support of the family system.

WORK STRESS / BURNOUT

Work stress and bullying involve the physical and emotional strain caused by excessive professional demands or targeted interpersonal hostility in the workplace. If left unaddressed, these pressures can lead to burnout, a state of chronic exhaustion, cynicism, and a diminished sense of personal accomplishment that impairs one's ability to function.

LIFE CHANGES

Significant life changes, such as redundancy or divorce, are major transitions that disrupt an individual's sense of security, identity, and daily routine. These events often trigger a period of intense adjustment as one navigates the practical challenges and emotional processing required to rebuild a stable new reality.

ADHD / NEURO-DIVERSITY

ADHD can be characterised by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity. Autistic traits can include difficulties around communication and social interaction. Some people with neurodiverse traits may experience more anxiety, and a tendency to mask around others in order to be accepted in social situations. Neurodiversity is a deeply personal experience, as unique as each individual.

finding meaning / purpose

Finding meaning and purpose involves identifying the core values and goals that provide a sense of direction and significance to one's life. This process often connects personal strengths with a larger contribution to the world, fostering resilience and a deeper sense of fulfilment.

IDENTITY - LGBTQ+

Identity is the multifaceted internal sense of who a person is, encompassing their values, beliefs, and social categories. The LGBTQ+ acronym represents a diverse community of individuals whose sexual orientations or gender identities transcend traditional cisgender and heteronormative expectations.
