Issues I Can Help With:

I work with people with many different kinds of issues, including:

Anxiety & Stress

Stress is one way the body and mind reacts to a direct threat or pressure. Anxiety is where you feel constant, intense worry even after the pressure is gone. While both trigger your “fight-or-flight” response, anxiety usually focuses on fears about the future rather than a danger happening right now. A therapist can help you articulate these issues, establish where they come from & to collaborate with you to find tools to help you.

DEPRESSION

Depression can involve a persistent feeling of sadness, hopelessness and a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It often manifests through physical symptoms such as fatigue or sleep issues and can impair a person’s ability to function in daily life. Talking in therapy can help you feel less alone or unstuck. Feeling understood by a trained professional can help people feel less stuck and more motivated.

LIFE CHANGES

Major life changes, like divorce or job loss, can disrupt your identity and routine. This often triggers a difficult period of emotional and practical adjustment as you work to build a stable new reality. Counselling can support you through this emotional time, giving you a space to ground yourself and find a way though the difficulties.

ABUSE & TRAUMA

Abuse is when someone intentionally uses physical, emotional, or sexual actions to control or exert power over another person. Trauma is the lasting emotional and physical impact left behind after these distressing events, which can feel too heavy or overwhelming to handle. Therapy for trauma and abuse focuses on creating a safe environment to process painful memories and regain a sense of control over your life.

LOSS & GRIEF

Loss is the event of losing someone or something important. Grief is the complex, personal way you feel and react to that loss. It is a natural process that can include many different emotions for example, deep sadness or anger as you adjust to a life that has changed. Expressing your feelings in therapy can help you to process, assimilate, adjust and find a way through challenging times.

ADHD / NEURO-DIVERSITY

ADHD often involves ongoing difficulty with focus, high energy levels or acting without thinking. Autism can involve challenges with how a person communicates & connects with others. Many neurodivergent people also deal with anxiety or feel they must "mask" their natural traits to fit into social groups. Neurodiversity is deeply personal and looks different for everyone. Counselling can help you navigate a diagnosis, support you in understanding yourself more and offer tools to enhance your daily life.

self-esteem

Self-esteem is how you value yourself. It’s the inner belief system that shapes how you handle challenges, build relationships and see your place in the world. Counselling helps improve self-esteem by providing a safe, judgment-free space to explore your inner beliefs and to see patterns to help you potentially change your life for the better.

family issues

Family issues could involve repeated arguments, communication breakdowns and feeling unheard or unseen in the home. Generational patterns of trauma can repeat perpetuating suffering. Working on yourself in therapy could help you to identify unhelpful relationship dynamics so that these are clearer and can be addressed.

finding meaning / purpose

Finding meaning and purpose can be about aligning your life with your personal values to find fulfilment. Counselling can help you to build on your strengths, explore a new way forward, and support you to handle life’s challenges.

RELATIONSHIP ISSUES

Relationship problems happen when people struggle to talk to communicate, argue excessively, or feel distant. These issues can start because of broken trust, outside stress, not being valued or heard, or when people want different things. Counselling can help improve communication, restore self-confidence, and to help find new ways of being in a relationship, and facilitate healing after a break up.

WORK STRESS / BURNOUT

Work stress and bullying involve the physical and emotional strain caused by overworking, being short staffed, interpersonal hostility, or a moral injury. These pressures can lead to burnout, a prolonged exhaustion, cynicism, and a loss of self which can lead to not being able to sleep, focus or function. Counselling could help you to find your sense of self-worth, align to your value system and manage conflict.

IDENTITY - LGBTQ+

Who we are is shaped by our values, the way we interpret experiences and how we see ourselves. For those in the LGBTQ+ community, facing judgment and prejudice can damage confidence. Counselling can help you to work through difficult feelings to find a sense of self-acceptance and peace.
